Decorating for Bathukamma, Telangana’s Floral Fiesta

As the days pass, I can’t help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness racing through my veins. Riya and I will be standing at the crossroads of eternity soon, ready to begin a new chapter in our lives. Our years of love story will finally become something more significant as we have decided to marry on the auspicious occasion of Bathukumma.
Riya is the ray of sunshine in my life; her smile is contagious, and her energy is strong. I deeply admire her ties to our Telangana roots, which is why I’ve been planning a surprise for this year’s Bathukamma and our wedding day.
I am a software developer who escapes into codes and pixels. But I’m directing that same energy into a new foundation of something more important to me this time. It’s about integrating our love story into the design of our future home. A home that would portray us, our time together, and the festival of Bathukamma that makes Riya’s eyes light up.
I reached out to the Space Designing Studio, met their designers, and painted them a picture of my vision with a heart full of excitement and a notepad full of doodles. I wanted this house to represent the spirit of Bathukamma, the festival of colors and fragrances.
In the weeks that followed, SDS poured their hearts into this project as if it were their vision. Every item of furniture and color of paint was picked with Bathukamma’s spirit in mind. The chairs’ curves matched the swirl of the flower stacks, and the walls were painted in marigold and rose hues. Every time I went to the site, I could see how carefully they had crafted our love into every detail.
The excitement rose as the days passed. It was a mix of enthusiasm and nervousness. Space Designing Studio ensured that our home reflected the festival’s spirit. And with every passing day, it has begun to take on the picture I had in my heart and notepad.
Only a few days remained for Bathukamma, and SDS delivered me the home I had hoped for myself and Riya. It is a colorful canvas that reflects my feelings for Riya. I intended to surprise Riya a little earlier so we could move into the house right after our wedding.
My heart was racing while I waited for her. And when she finally entered my home, her eyes widened in amazement, as if my entire world had paused. Her quiet said volumes as she took in everything that was in front of her. She understood the relationship between our future home and her favorite celebration. I knew it was all worth it when she finally turned to face me, and her eyes glistened with tears. She put her hand in mine as we stood there, surrounded by the colors and aromas of Bathukamma, and she said, “Dev, this is more than I could have dreamed. You’ve given me a part of our culture, a part of our love, and a part of our forever.”
As we stood there, surrounded by the beauty that SDS had created for us, I realized that this surprise was about more than simply the design; it was about the passion and effort that Space Designing Studio had put into it. It’s a testament to our journey, a reflection of our love story entwined with Bathukamma’s festivities.
Riya and I will be eternally thankful to the Space Designing Studio for working diligently on it and providing us with the home of our dreams.
